Formosa II Offshore Wind Farm (F2) is located between 4km to 10km offshore Zhunan of Miaoli County in northwestern Taiwan, near Formosa I Offshore Wind Farm. F2 is comprised of 47 wind turbines of 8MW which will be installed in the 68.81km² area. The wind farm with plan capacity of 376MW is aiming to generate power for 380,000 households every year.
The shareholders of Formosa 2 include JERA, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group and Swancor Renewable Energy. Swancor Renewable Energy also provide services of Operation and Maintenance for F2.
F2 not only successfully secured the 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Taiwan Power Company, but also has been focusing in localizing the industry.
F2 continues to work closely with consultancy firms in Taiwan, and cooperates with academic units of the country to jointly conduct survey and analysis for wind farm environment. Furthermore, F2 has been working with National United University since 2018 and established “Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Program” to cultivate talents of offshore wind. The wind farm has also engaged local fishermen in Miaoli and facilitated the training for them to become Marine Mammal Observers.
The onshore construction works of F2 has started successively in 2020, followed by the offshore works which will start in the near future. Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm is scheduled to enter into commercial operation in 2021.
